 William M. Caldwell

 

Dr. Caldwell's career as a professional choral conductor began in August of 1964, at the Calera Baptist Church in Calera, Alabama.  He has taught in schools and served churches in Alabama, Georgia, Missouri and Tennessee.  Dr. Caldwell holds degrees from the University of Montevallo in Alabama; Georgia State University in Atlanta; and Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida.  For thirty years he taught middle school and high school choral music.  He also served as the coordinator of Music for the Colquitt County School in Moultrie, Georgia.  Dr. Caldwell was the Director of Choral Activities at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) and was the Director of Music Education at Shorter College in Rome, Georgia.  In addition to performances at Southern Division Conventions of the American Choral Directors Association and the Music Educators National Conference, he has conducted performances of his choirs at Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall in New York City, Salzburg Cathedral in Salzburg, Austria, and the Cathedral of St. Stephens in Vienna, Austria.  He maintains a busy schedule as guest conductor, consultant and adjudicator for choral ensembles.  Dr. Caldwell is currently an adjunct Professor of Music at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.
